“Little Hood of All Colors” is an animated series made using the 2D Digital animation technique, in a format of 13 episodes of 7 minutes each. The series is an adaptation of the literary work Little Yellow Hood, which has as its central theme the overcoming of childhood fears through everyday rites of passage. In the book written by Chico Buarque and illustrated by Ziraldo, Little Yellow Hood overcomes her fears without the help of a guide, adult or magical entity; she overcomes her fears alone, maturing while playing with the formal structure of words. Following this narrative structure, the original vision of the series consists of presenting a new color for the little hood and a new rite in each episode.
The series is currently available on the streaming platforms Amazon Prime, Play Kids, NET NOW, GVT NOW, Lookie and on the official ANIMAFLIX channel on YouTube, with over 7 (seven) million views
Concept
The unifying concept of the series is the presentation of various rites of passage – the obligations and dramas experienced by children – the fears and challenges, bringing in a theatrical and lyrical way, a moral sense that motivates self-control, self-esteem and the consequent maturation of these children, with each episode, with a different theme. The series then deals with the confrontation of childhood fears (the aforementioned rites of passage), in a series of incarnations of the shadow that transforms into a wolf; In the personification of childhood in the form of the girl/main character, through the light of reason (maturing) in the form of the process of the word and the image that has a corresponding symbolic color and culminates with the eradication of fear, transformed into fun (the cake).
Visual Conception
Artistically, the series is a journey through the childhood imagination of renowned artist Ziraldo, materialized in the form of animations of his characters and settings. The characteristic visual style of his comic book and children's book characters comes to life in this animated series. In the books, his characters suggest a strong dynamic of movement, and this is a great opportunity to see them actually moving. Ziraldo's art uses a lot of watercolor painting and colored pencil outlines. The settings in the series take advantage of this visual appeal. All the settings are hand-painted, finished with pencil and photographed to then compose the scene with the digital character. In the moments when we delve into Little Hood's thoughts, we find an aesthetic that is completely different from the rest of the episode. Since this is Little Hood imagination, we adopted a Paper Theater aesthetic. All the elements that appear on stage are cardboard cutouts and interact with Little Hood in a mechanical way, like in a theater performance, with strings and gadgets.
Personagens
Little Hood is the central character in the series. Her mood determines the color of the hat she will wear, and the color of the hat represents a rite of passage that she will overcome. She has no fears, but she does feel afraid when she has to face a new situation. She always faces her fear alone and realizes that it wasn't a bad situation after all.
The Wolf is the personification of that inner voice that always sees situations in a bad light, putting even more fear into us. He gains strength and appears whenever Little Hood is faced with a situation that causes her fear. Every episode he dresses up as a character in a ridiculous way to talk to Little Hood and fill her with fear. When Little Hood faces and overcomes her fears, the Wolf becomes her shadow again.
